Piotr Mularuk (born 1966) is a director, screenwriter, producer and the owner of Yeti Films, a Polish independent production company, established in 2002. In 1993 Mularuk graduated from City University of New York (USA). His graduation film: Opowiem wam o Esther (I will tell you about Esther), based on a Marek Hlasko short story, was awarded during the National Educational Film and Video Festival in Oakland (best film award) and Hunter Student Film Festival in NY (best film, best director). In the period 2000-2004 he has written and directed several TV movies based on the novels of acclaimed Polish writers. In 2009 he is going to direct his debut movie Yuma developed with financial help of MEDIA programme. In 2008 he was a co-producer for a Yeti Films/Tatfilm/Saga Films production Within the Whirlwind, directed by an Oscar Winner Marleen Gorris, starring Emily Watson. In 2007 he was a co-producer of Peter Greenaway's Nightwatching, which was had its premiere during the Venice Film Festival in 2007. In 2004/2005 he was a co-producer for Wholetrain, a German-Polish feature movie, an urban story of about a group of young graffiti writers. Wholetrain had its premiere during Berlinale festival in 2006 (Dialogues en Perspective, special mention). Recently it was awarded with the most prestigious German TV award, Adolf Grimme Preis (Best Drama, 2009).
